As our mobile phones have become not just a tool for conversation, but also a digital storehouse of our lives, the unutilized photos, videos, screenshots, memes, emails, and files collected in them are contributing to power consumption, water usage, and carbon emissions, posing a significant threat to the environment.
Dark Data Pollution: मोबाइल में पड़े अनयूज्ड फोटो, वीडियो और फाइलें सिर्फ स्टोरेज नहीं घेर रहीं, बल्कि डेटा सेंटर्स के जरिए भारी बिजली, पानी और कार्बन उत्सर्जन बढ़ा रही हैं। जानिए क्या है डार्क डेटा और यह पर्यावरण के लिए कितना बड़ा खतरा बन चुका है।इंटरनेट और तकनीक के इस दौर में मोबाइल फोन अब सिर्फ बातचीत का साधन नहीं रह गया है, बल्कि हमारी जिंदगी का डिजिटल स्टोर बन चुका है। सुबह उठते ही फोन हाथ में आता है और दिनभर में न जाने कितनी फोटो, वीडियो, स्क्रीनशॉट, मीम्स, ईमेल और फाइलें उसमें जुड़ती जाती हैं। इनमें से बड़ी संख्या ऐसी फाइलों की होती है जिन्हें हम सेव तो कर लेते हैं, लेकिन दोबारा कभी खोलकर भी नहीं देखते। तकनीकी दुनिया में ऐसे बेकार और अनयूज्ड डेटा को ‘डार्क डेटा’ या ‘डिजिटल कबाड़’ कहा जाता है। विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि यह सिर्फ डिजिटल समस्या नहीं, बल्कि धरती के संसाधनों पर भी बड़ा बोझ बनता जा रहा है।दुनियाभर में इस डेटा को संभालने के लिए बड़े-बड़े डेटा सेंटर चौबीसों घंटे चलते रहते हैं। एक मध्यम आकार के डेटा सेंटर को ठंडा रखने के लिए हर दिन करीब 3 से 5 लाख लीटर पानी और लगभग 2 मेगावाट तक बिजली की जरूरत पड़ती है। अंतरराष्ट्रीय ऊर्जा एजेंसी के अनुमान के मुताबिक 2026 के अंत तक दुनिया के डेटा सेंटर्स की कुल बिजली खपत 1000 टेरावॉट-घंटे से ज्यादा हो सकती है। यह खपत कई बड़े देशों के सालाना बिजली उपयोग के बराबर मानी जा रही है। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार डार्क डेटा हर साल लगभग 6.4 मिलियन टन कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड उत्सर्जन के लिए जिम्मेदार है। चौंकाने वाली बात यह है कि दुनिया के कुल डेटा का करीब 52 प्रतिशत हिस्सा ऐसा है, जिसका दोबारा कभी इस्तेमाल ही नहीं होता।रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक दुनिया में हर दिन करीब 402 मिलियन टेराबाइट डेटा पैदा होता है और इसका लगभग 60 प्रतिशत हिस्सा बाद में डार्क डेटा में बदल जाता है। सबसे ज्यादा डार्क डेटा सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म पर अपलोड की गई अनयूज्ड फोटो और स्टोरी, ईमेल इनबॉक्स में पड़े स्पैम मेल, क्लाउड पर सेव डुप्लीकेट बैकअप, कंपनियों की पुरानी फाइलें और स्ट्रीमिंग प्लेटफॉर्म के अनदेखे कंटेंट से बनता है।विशेषज्ञ बताते हैं कि व्यक्ति, कंपनियां और संगठन रोज भारी मात्रा में डेटा जमा करते हैं, लेकिन उसका बड़ा हिस्सा कभी इस्तेमाल में नहीं आता। इसके बावजूद यह डेटा सर्वर, क्लाउड और स्टोरेज सिस्टम में जगह घेरता रहता है। यानी आप जिन फोटो, वीडियो या फाइलों को भूल चुके हैं, वे भी डेटा सेंटर्स पर लगातार बोझ बढ़ा रही होती हैं।तकनीकी विशेषज्ञों के मुताबिक किसी फाइल को डिलीट करने पर वह तुरंत पूरी तरह खत्म नहीं होती। सिस्टम सिर्फ उस जगह को खाली मार्क कर देता है। जब तक नया डेटा उस जगह को ओवरराइट नहीं करता, पुराना डेटा मौजूद रह सकता है।भी इस समस्या को तेजी से बढ़ा रही है। AI मॉडल को ट्रेन करने और चलाने के लिए भारी मात्रा में डेटा स्टोर करना पड़ता है। इससे नए डेटा सेंटर तेजी से बढ़ रहे हैं और बिजली-पानी की खपत भी बढ़ रही है।विशेषज्ञ सलाह देते हैं कि लोग समय-समय पर अपने फोन और क्लाउड स्टोरेज की सफाई करें। जंक फाइल्स, डुप्लीकेट फोटो, पुराने डाउनलोड और अनयूज्ड बैकअप हटाना जरूरी है। गूगल फोटोज, गूगल ड्राइव, आईक्लाउड और वनड्राइव जैसे प्लेटफॉर्म पर गैरजरूरी ऑटो बैकअप बंद किए जा सकते हैं। इसके अलावा पुराने ईमेल अटैचमेंट और चैट बैकअप भी सीमित रखने की सलाह दी जाती है।विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि अब समय आ गया है कि लोग ‘डिजिटल मिनिमलिज्म’ अपनाएं। यानी सिर्फ जरूरी डेटा ही स्टोर करें और नया बैकअप बनाने से पहले यह सोचें कि उसकी वास्तव में जरूरत है या नहीं। अगर डिजिटल आदतें नहीं बदलीं, तो आने वाले समय में ‘डिजिटल प्रदूषण’ भी प्लास्टिक और धुएं की तरह बड़ा पर्यावरणीय संकट बन सकता है। 6 दिन में जुटाए 6,238 करोड़: आखिर इस रहस्यमयी AI तकनीक में ऐसा क्या है, जिस पर दुनिया के अरबपति लगा रहे हैं दांव?
