A husband in South 24 Parganas allegedly murdered his wife and then took his own life after a domestic dispute. Police recovered the murder weapon and have launched an investigation.
South 24 Parganas: A husband has allegedly murder ed his wife with a small fruit cutter and then committed suicide by hanging. Police recovered the knife from Sonarpur police station. According to local sources, Payel Haldar and her two-and-a-half-year-old son lived in a rented house in Babanipur for almost eight months. Her husband, Shashidhar Haldar, a railway worker, also lived with them.
There was domestic discord between the husband and wife, but no one in the neighborhood or the landlord could have imagined such an incident. Local people heard the cries of the two-and-a-half-year-old son from Saturday morning. They repeatedly called out to Shashidhar and Payel. Finally, the child managed to come out of the house and alerted the neighbors. Upon entering the house, the neighbors saw Payel Haldar, 24, lying dead with her throat slit and her husband, Shashidhar Haldar, 34, hanging from the ceiling. The landlord immediately informed Sonarpur police station. Sonarpur police station has started the investigation of the entire incident. It is also learned that the wife had forced her husband to live in a rented house after leaving his ancestral home. This was the reason for almost daily domestic discord. As a result, in Mathurapur of Sonarpur, the husband murdered his wife and then committed suicide. The two-and-a-half-year-old child was alone with the bodies of his parents for a long time.
