Donald Trump's presidency has reignited tensions between the US and the Taliban, particularly regarding American hostages held by the group. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has issued a direct threat to the Taliban, promising a reward exceeding that offered for Osama Bin Laden for the capture of their key leaders. The situation stems from a recent deal where the Taliban released two American citizens in exchange for the US freeing two individuals, one of whom was linked to Osama Bin Laden. US intelligence alleges the Taliban continues to detain numerous American citizens, holding them in undisclosed locations without trial, effectively black mailing the US. यही वजह है कि अमेरिका ने अब तालिबान को सीधी धमकी दी है. अमेरिका अब अपने नागरिकों की रिहाई के लिए हर कदम उठाने को तैयार है. तालिबान को क्या धमकी अमेरिका के नवनियुक्त सेक्रेटरी मार्को रूबियो ने तालिबान को सीधे धमकी देते हुए कहा कि अगर यह सही पाया गया कि तालिबान ने अमेरिका के और भी नागरिकों को बंधक बनाया हुआ है तो अमेरिका तालिबान के बड़े नेताओं पर एक बड़ी इनामी राशि की घोषणा करेगा. यह इनाम की राशि जो ओसामा बिन लादेन से भी ज्यादा होगी.
