Sen. Bernie Sanders returns to the campaign trail and makes his first visit to Iowa since kicking off his second presidential bid with a pair of homecoming rallies in Brooklyn and Chicago last weekend
His three-stop tour begins in Council Bluffs, on the state's southwestern border with Nebraska, then heads east to Iowa City on Friday before turning back and wrapping up in Des Moines, at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, on Saturday morning.
"Whether Sanders can grow his base of passionate support is the fundamental question looming over this second presidential campaign. With so many other candidates, many of them well-regarded by progressive Democratic voters, in the race, the raw math suggests it is unlikely he'll match his 2016 Iowa numbers, when he notched more than 49% in what ended up as a two-horse race with Clinton.
