White House Communications Director Bill Shine resigns after less than one year on the job

WASHINGTON – Bill Shine is resigning as White House communications director after less than one year on the job, the White House said Friday.

"Bill continues to support President Trump and his agenda and will serve as Senior Advisor to the 2020 re-election campaign,” White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders says in statement. Shine, who has been criticized for his connections to Fox News, called his White House stint"the most rewarding experience" of his life, and"I’m looking forward to working on President Trump’s reelection campaign and spending more time with my family.”Trump said Shine"has done an outstanding job" and will be"totally involved" in the 2020 campaign.

Shine was the fifth communications director for an administration that has been in office only two years and two months. The others were Mike Dubke, Anthony Scaramucci, Hope Hicks, and Sean Spicer, who did two stints in the position.
