The U.S. Postal Service has today revealed 2 new stamp designs in its 'Forever' collection commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1st moon landing on July 20, 1969

Designed by its art director Antonio Alcalá, the two stamps are quite different, with only one of them an actual photograph taken on the moon, by Neil Armstrong of Buzz Aldrin. The other features a photograph of the moon with a yellow dot indicating the exact landing site of Apollo 11's"Eagle" lunar landing module."Eagle" took Armstrong and Aldrin to the moon's surface from the Columbia command module, which was piloted by Michael Collins.
The U.S. Postal Service did not give any more details but said it would later reveal the date, time and location for a first-day-of-issue ceremony.One stamp features a photograph of Apollo 11 lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin, now 89, in his spacesuit on the surface of the moon. He climbed out of Eagle module . It may seem odd that Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the moon and the commander of the Apollo 11 mission is not featured in this commemorative stamp.
This is basic moongazing."Tranquility Base," as Armstrong called the landing spot where he took his"one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" on July 20, 1969, is on the lower-left-hand side of the Sea of Tranquility. Where Apollo 11 precisely landed was just above Moltke Crater, though that's hard to see without at least a 6-inch telescope.
