The ruling Communist Party’s official People’s Daily and the official Xinhua news agency said that in addition to the lifting of the additional tariffs, the differences centred on trade purchases and a “balanced” text to any trade deal. “China clearly requires that the trade procurement figures should be realistic; the text must be balanced and expressed in terms that are acceptable to the Chinese people and do not undermine the sovereignty and dignity of the country,” it added.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday ordered the U.S. trade representative to start the process of raising tariffs on all remaining imports from China, with the value of products subject to new round of tariffs at approximately $300 billion.
