Stelter said Fox News' close relationship with Trump 'could be called, not state-run TV, but state-supported, state-sponsored television.”
CNN host Brian Stelter on Monday accused Fox News of putting the interests of President Donald Trump above those of their viewers.
The reporter, who worked the story for months, claimed the head of FoxNews.com decided not to run it because the company’s CEO, Rupert Murdoch, wanted Trump to win over his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton. “The White House and the president and Fox News have an alliance we haven’t seen before,” Stelter explained. “Maybe a Democratic president would dream of having this some day with MSNBC, but it’s never happened before.”
“They’re doing a disservice to their viewers. Ultimately, when the Sean Hannitys of the world are covering up bad news about Trump and promoting a bunch of BS and make Trump feel better, that’s actually a disservice to the audience,” Stelter said. “It may make the president feel good, it doesn’t help the audience, because it actually confuses the audience.”
