The dollar fell as investors sought haven currencies and sold emerging markets after China unveiled retaliatory tariffs on U.S. imports

Investors piled into haven currencies and sold emerging markets Monday, as an intensifying trade conflict between the U.S. and China stoked global growth concerns. The dollar was recently down 0.8% against the Japanese yen to its lowest level since early February while also falling against the Swiss franc. Gold, another popular destination for nervous investors, was recently up 1%.
