A police official said there are multiple fatalities in a wreck that occurred after a semi crashed into stopped traffic on I-70.

Several people died in the Thursday evening crash. The exact number of those killed was still unknown, Countryman said Friday. Six people were hospitalized after the crash. A semi headed eastbound had crashed into vehicles that were stopped because of another crash between a different semi and a school bus on I-70 eastbound, Countryman said Thursday. About 24 students were on the bus and were reunited with their parents,The driver of that semi, a flatbed which was carrying lumber, is the only person expected to be charged in the crash, Countryman said.
