In the aftermath of last week's deadly terrorist attack at two mosques in New Zealand, local authorities confirmed that personnel from the US Federal Bureau of Investigation had arrived in country to assist with their investigation.
The FBI has declined to comment on exactly how large of a footprint it has established in the small Pacific nation more than 6,000 miles from the continental United States, which illustrates both the reach and low-key international posture of the crime fighting agency. A law enforcement source tells CNN that the bureau has also searched through the agency's intelligence holdings for any information that may be of value to investigators in New Zealand.
