While there are no wild giraffes in the U.S., Pepper said declaring the giraffes as an endangered species would sharply curtail the the international trade in bone carvings, skins, and trophies. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says its initial review has determined there's"substantial information that listing may be warranted" for giraffes.
