Perfectly bringing Mignola’s unique illustrations to the world of animation, the pilot featured an incredibly A-list cast of voice actors like Paul GiamattiDavid Hyde Pierce, and Corey Burton—all of whom nailed their respective voiceovers with Giamatti and Pierce as shining standouts. Specifically, Pierce is no stranger to the Mignola-verse, having voiced B.R.P.D.
With such an impressive cast, a novel premise, a memorable visual style, and a delightfully dark sense of humor, it’s really a wonder why theTV program was never picked up to series, especially when you consider that it was developed by Bryan Fuller and directed by Chris Prynoski .
If a live-action film adaptation is too much to ask for, then why not an out-and-out revival of the animated series with the original cast returning? That's assuming they'd all agree to reprise their roles, of course, but as those on YouTube have pointed out, current day shows likeprove that cartoons aren't just vapid, colorful distractions for children anymore. They can transcend a medium and become something more for discerning viewers.
