A day after Media Matters For America put Fox News host Tucker Carlson at the center of controversy over remarks made on a nationally-syndicated radio show over a decade ago, the media personality took to his show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, to respond to what he called a"mob mentality."
Carlson went on to outline how it is expected that you apologize for comments made, donate to an organization that represents the people"you supposedly offended" and wait for stories about the apology"all of which are simply pretexts for attacking you again" before being fired from your job and"ruined."
The monologue segued into politics and the efforts of"the other side" to do whatever it takes to destroy an individual and how Republican leaders are controlled by the left. "This is a system built on deceit and enforced silence. Hypocrisy is its hallmark. Yet in Washington, it’s considered rude to ask questions about how exactly it works," Carlson said."Why are the people who considered Bill Clinton a hero lecturing me about sexism? How can the party that demands racial quotas denounce other people as racist? After a while, you begin to think that maybe their criticisms aren’t sincere.
"We’ve always apologized when we’re wrong, and will continue to do that. That’s what decent people do. They apologize. But we will never bow to the mob. Ever. No matter what," Carlson said.
