Sen. Thom Tillis's about-face on Trump's national emergency has left the North Carolina Republican vulnerable for re-election
REIDSVILLE, N.C.—The calls to Sen. Thom Tillis’s office after his announcement last month that he would vote to terminate President Trump’s national emergency came in such great volume that Debbie Deaton Morris was, initially, unable to connect to place her own complaint.
“We had to keep calling and calling because we couldn’t get through,” said Ms. Morris of Newport, N.C., a 65-year-old. “It was very embarrassing for me for my state to be one of the states not supporting President Trump.”
