How one woman left a high profile fashion career to give meditation a makeover:
I ended up taking this job with Lord & Taylor doing all those taxi TV commercials. I was on a trip and I was very stressed out. My mother-in-law said, “You need to breathe.” She is a psychotherapist so she had me close my eyes, visualize myself in Jamaica, and slow down my breath. In three minutes, I literally transformed from stressed to calm. I said, “What was that?” “That’s meditation. You should learn how to meditate.
So I took every single class I could, and the more places I went, the more I realized meditation definitely needed a makeover. I started reading these books from these incredible people and calling them up or tweeting them out. They would call me back and say, “Nobody’s ever done this before. I’m on board. Whatever you need, I’m going to help you.”I had this vision of Heaven Can Wait, all white on white. I wanted it to smell good, sound good, feel good.
