Breaking: Safety failures by Southern California Gas contributed to the Aliso Canyon methane leak, the biggest in U.S. history, investigators say.
L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti and Southern California Gas officials in 2015 watch the drilling of a relief well after the leak at the utility's Aliso Canyon facility.
Blade Energy Partners, which conducted the years-long investigation, said the company should have been able to plug the leak sooner. The company in a news release highlighted a report finding that said new state regulations and practices by the company address most, if not all, of the causes of the leak.
