Should Kyler Murray become the first pick in next month's NFL draft, he would help Oklahoma tie for the most No. 1 overall selections of any college program. He'd also help the Sooners match USC as the only programs to have the No. 1 overall pick in consecutive years.
Tuesday that show Murray as a 1/2 favorite to go first overall. That pushes him to the top of the list of favorites to come off the board first, just ahead of Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa , Alabama defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and Kentucky outside linebacker Josh Allen .
Should Murray actually go first, that would move the Sooners into a tie with Notre Dame and USC for college programs with the most No. 1 overall picks in NFL draft history . Former Oklahoma stars Lee Roy Selmon , Billy Sims , Sam Bradford and Mayfield all went first in their respective drafts. Although it doesn’t toward this total, Oklahoma linebacker Brian Bosworth was also the No. 1 overall selection in the 1987 supplemental draft.
Between 1999 and 2018, USC produced 12 top-10 picks – including names like Carson Palmer, Reggie Bush, Matt Kalil and Sam Darnold – but the Trojans probably will not add to their total this year.Meanwhile, many of the programs trailing USC – Alabama , LSU and Ohio State , Georgia and Texas , and Miami and Oklahoma – boast prospects who could go in the first 10 picks.
