Just in time for the 50th anniversary of the original production of 'The Italian Job,' Lamborghini has found and restored the original Miura from the film

One of the most loved driving sequences from that same period is the opening of the original 1969 Paramount production of “The Italian Job,” which starred Michael Caine as a jolly, bumbling Cockney gangster fresh out of prison and eager to renew his fortune, and Noël Coward as Mr. Bridger, the king of the Cockney mob, lisping out directions to gangsters from a most comfortable prison cell and frequently displeased with Caine’s antics.
The tell-tale white headrests, which were not replaced during shooting of the film. The seats had been changed to black leather for the movie. But that lovely drive comes to a fiery end when the car enters a dark tunnel and rams into a bulldozer that members of the Sicilian mafia have placed in the road. It’s a hit, and the fireball kills Brazzi’s character.
That is no longer the case. Lamborghini’s in-house restoration shop, Polo Storico, has certified Miura P400 chassis #3586 as the original movie car. It is part of the Kaiser Collection in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Established in 2015, this is likely Polo Storico’s greatest achievement to date. Polo Storico started with a rifling of the company archives and an examination of the car.
