The president cited a number of proposed changes Democrat hopefuls want to implement in the country if elected.
President Donald Trump tweeted shortly after midnight East Coast time, still Tuesday night in the rest of the country, that Democrats were getting even more peculiar than he already finds them.
While the field of candidates who could oppose him in the 2020 election grows, so does rhetoric from those candidates. Whereas Sen. Elizabeth Warren said Monday night she would support abolishing the Electoral College and leaving the presidential race up to national popularity, other candidates have supported lowering the voting age to 16 and adding more Supreme Court justices, like former Rep. Beto O’Rourke, who suggested increasing the number of justices from nine to 15.
While network TV personalities joust these suggestions, the president waved his Twitter wand and said the Democrats lining up against him are getting “strange,” and they should just challenge him at the ballot box instead of town halls where he’s not present. Among other sweeping changes Democrats have proposed are Sen. Cory Booker, another presidential candidate, to decriminalize marijuana and commute sentences of those incarcerated from marijuana. Warren and Sens. Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, also presidential candidates, have supported criticism of Israel by freshman representatives, according to this report.
