The Carolina Panthers’ headquarters is moving across the state line to South Carolina, thanks to a $115 million package narrowly passed by lawmakers

South Carolina state senators narrowly agreed to give more than $115 million in tax breaks to bring the NFL’s Carolina Panthers’ headquarters and practice facility to Rock Hill, a city across the state line from its current home in North Carolina.

The economic-incentive package almost didn’t pass, amid criticism from some lawmakers who said the state had more pressing needs than helping the team’s billionaire owner. Thursday’s vote came hours before the close of the legislative session, and after lengthy debate and delays....
