The president changed his tune on Carter after a weekend phone call during which they discussed U.S. relations with China.

“The President has always liked President Carter and First Lady Rosalynn Carter, and extended his best wishes to them on behalf of the American people,” the White House statement reads. Former President Jimmy Carter is so happy that he is no longer considered the worst President in the history of the United States!

Trump made similar comments in interviews in 2014 and 2016. He also ridiculed Carter in a 2014 tweet.
