Zion Williamson has hinted he could declare for the upcoming NBA draft after Duke’s March Madness adventure came to a premature end on Sunday.
Williamson’s mix of athleticism and skill and his ability to be a threat at both ends of the court have made him the overwhelming favorite to be the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA draft. "There’s obviously a high chance that I’m going to enter the draft. You got seniors and other players who can potentially go pro, so each year, especially coming to Duke, you gotta enjoy being with that group because it changes every year.”"A lot is obviously going through our minds right now,” he told CBS Sports.
The NBA draft is scheduled for June 20 this year, meaning the Elite Eight game against the Spartans was in all likelihood Williamson’s last college basketball appearance. The teenager doesn’t have to prove himself between now and June as he’s more than impressed scouts across the NBA during his freshman season at Duke.
That means that, as things stands, the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns are the favorites to draft Williamson in the summer.
