And these aren’t the only Hawaii travel deals.
Southwest Airlines LUV announced Monday that it is offering flights from California to Hawaii for as low as $49 one way. The airline will also offer inter-island flights from Honolulu to Maui and Kona starting at $29. The deals are available through March 5th and service to Hawaii begins March 17th, though certain routes will begin later.
“We’re in this for good,” said Gary Kelly, Southwest Airlines’ chairman and chief executive officer, in a statement about the low fares. Indeed, the airline has plans to expand as well to California cities like Sacremento and San Diego. What’s more, consumers have already seen deals to the islands — as other airlines have dropped fares in anticipation of the entrance of Southwest, says travel deal site Travelzoo’s anchor and producer Gabe Saglie www.travelzoo.com. Indeed, last summer, Alaska Airlines was offering some rountrip fares to Hawaii from the U.S. for under $300. Saglie predicts that legacy airlines will also slash the number of miles they will require for free flights to Hawaii.
