The DCCC raised a record sum in February

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee raised a record $11.6 million last month, more than the House Democrats' campaign arm has ever raised in any February — even in an election year.

Of the $11.6 million, $4.6 million came from the DCCC's grassroots network online, via phone or from mail, the committee said in a news release first provided to POLITICO. Online donors gave nearly $3 million, at an average contribution of $18 in February. The massive haul will boost Democrats' coffers as the party reloads for the 2020 election cycle.

“Democrats across America aren’t wasting a second to protect and expand our new majority,” DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos said in a statement. “The fact that we just had our strongest February in the history of the DCCC shows that our momentum is only growing. I’m proud to lead a DCCC that’s supported by grassroots donors who believe in bringing down the cost of health care, raising wages for everyday Americans and holding Washington Republicans accountable for their culture of corruption.

The release did not detail the DCCC's cash-on-hand figure, nor how much debt the committee was carrying as of Feb. 28. The DCCC raised $7.2 million in January and had $6.8 million on hand and $15.8 million in debt as of Jan. 31. The National Republican Congressional Committee reported raising $5.1 million in January and had $16.2 million on hand and $8.6 million in debt.Bustos has vowed to stay on
