White House refuses to hand over documents requested by the House Oversight Committee.
President Donald Trump has described the investigation into his administration's security clearance process as a “witch hunt” and a “disgrace” as the White House refuses to hand over documents relating to his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
Cummings also released a letter he was sent from White House Counsel Pat Cipollone in which he calls Cummings’s request “unprecedented and extraordinarily intrusive.” The document request from the committee arrived following a New York Times report which claimed that Trump ordered officials to grant Kushner a high-level security clearance despite objections from senior administration officials.
According to The Hill, Cummings is reportedly looking into subpoenaing the administration in order to force the release of the requested documents. “The witch hunt continues,” Trump told reporters after signing an executive order on National Roadmap to Empower Veterans and End Veteran Suicide at the White House.
